Hello everyone. Just thought I’d ask the question on how everyone is.
Not just the poorly ones - although they are top of my list obviously - but all of us.
Anglais - how are your scans, tests etc Carol - Steve did you go to A&E? Chrissie - how is she coping with your diagnosis? Jayne - are her Covid symptoms bad? Mulv - are you being a good nursemaid? Sarah - how’s the medication working? TOM - are you ok with part time working? TT - hope you’re ok and fully recovered from your illness last year. Wench - you ok with the holiday blues? Will - are you coping?
I genuinely care about you lot and am not just being nosey. However if you don’t feel like replying your choice would be absolutely respected.
Sending big hugs to everyone xx
FYI JB n I are ok.

Thanks for asking, Sis
Jayne is still exhausted and sleeping a great deal, but the achiness and the horrible hacking cough are almost gone now.
I'm not much of a nurse - she did the tea 😁

Hey Su,
Apart from terrible breathlessness I am feeling okay in myself although I have lost a lot of weight. Most days its all I can do to get out of bed.
The Naughty Nurse comes to us on 13th to take another blood test to see if I can have the first of the scans on 19th which is to see if the cancer has spread to the Lymphatic System and other organs such as Liver and Kidneys. If the blood tests are not good then I have to contact my surgeon urgently.
I have to do a Bowel and Colon test myself at home and send the results off. I will do that this week. I would have thought that the first scan would pick that up but I guess this test is more accurate and specific.
In July I am scheduled for another scan to check it hasn't spread to my bones. That scan takes 3 hours in the "machine" and I am not looking forward to that one bit.
Then 3 days after that its another meeting with my surgeon, Dr Vayleux, to see what course of action to take.
If the scans go well then I go into surgery on 5th August.
Chrissie is fine with it all. She is made of stern stuff. We are heartened to know that I am being well cared for and have the utmost confidence in Dr Vayleux and the "system".
Thank you so much for enquiring how we are. I means so much to us.
Love from Chrissie and Keith

Sarah: The medication has had no ill effects, and seems to be doing a reasonable job. But it's a case of good days/bad days. I've contacted some of her friends and they are rallying around to take her out for coffee/lunch etc, so she can socialise. And she's planning to come to the Teignmouth RFC Awards evening, mainly because I'm one of three people who have been nominated for the top non-playing award. Whether we end up going remains to be seen.
Me: I'm exhausted - not sleeping well and emotionally drained. I've got to pull myself together otherwise I'm not going to be of much use. At least my blood sugar levels have dropped down in the last three months.
As anglais said, thank you for asking.
How are you and John?

Glad to hear there’s no side effects from Sarah’s medication but please do look after yourselves. Good news on the blood sugar levels.
I some how hurt my knee Saturday (probably running after my feral grandson!) but it is all good now. Swelling is down.
JB has been called in for an ECG after a blood test which is a bit of a worry but the receptionist at the doctors won’t give him his test results. Just says he’ll get them when he goes for his ECG! They only sent him for the blood test after a chest X-ray on his lungs (which were clear) showed one side of his heart was enlarged

all clear. Has ECG today. Results showed a perfectly normal heart, heart beat. Apparently men over 62 have them as a precaution and nothing to do with the lung xray, blood test etc. possibly our GP realised JB hadn’t had his ECG and sent him for one Honestly. I wish I could train for years and years to then hide in an office and diagnose people over the phone! Miss sending them for basic scans. Bloody doctors!

Thanks Su for caring. It could be said for all of us about all of us.
Carol went to A & E in City hospital, they directed us to the walk in clinic ( GP run) we sat there after booking in, for 4 hours and got called to the reception desk, " You are here then" was the qwuestion asked. So we sat down again...by this time it became apparent that folks who came in well after us were being seen. Half an hour later we went back to the desk to find out what was going on..."But you have only been here 20 minutes" theyy said...I exploded saying we have been here over 4 hours and showed them the time on my car park ticket. I transpired that the girl who should have booked us in, hadn't...she did this out of spite, we had interupted her texting on her phone.
Half an hour later we got to see a GP. He was most apologetic and after looking at Carols swollen knee, explained that nothing could be done until she had had a scan or similar and that can be only done after refural from her GP...her leg needs to be hanging off or similar to get any A & E treatment. He prescribed some pain killers and would e mail her GP.
Thats 5 hours of my life I wont get back.
As for me...3 days work and two days retired.
I know I have had a rant, there are far far worse problems for many on here, but even minor issues need attending too.

So I’m guessing it’s back to your GP. Ringing dead on 8 am to discover you are 82nd in the queue, that ‘your call is importante to us please hold’. Just to get a phone call back an not a face to face appointment ! Truly disgraceful!!

I can’t even get an appointment with my gp without filling in a form on line. Emergency one on Tuesday because of this blummin cough that is making me physically sick every day, nurse says nothing wrong (thankfully) but if I still have it in 2 weeks, I’m to go back 😂😂 I need a routine appointment with the nurse practitioner, very snotty receptionist said I need to make an e consult, they will get back to you in 24hrs, no reply so it says, resend e consult. Still no reply 😡😡 thankfully when I saw the nurse, I was able to book my vit b12 jab & an appointment with said nurse practitioner (end of July but I don’t care, it’s an appointment) I had 2 missed calls from the surgery on Thursday - I called back to be informed the pain clinic had rejected the NP referral, that was on 23rd of April & they’re just letting me know now. Sorry about my rant

It seems like Starmer's number one priority must be to make the NHS work again. Sadly I don't have much confidence that he will.
