Those books that Sarah sent for have arrived. She got The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry and The Love Song of Miss Queenie Hennessey, and I'm going to start with the former, as it appears that it tells the story of a bloke walking from Kingsbridge to Kelso - Kingsbridge is known at Teignmouth Rugby Club as Shitty Old Kingsbridge, so I think that if I'd been Harold Fry, I would have walked as far as possible away from that beknighted town in the South Hams!

Slightly off subject but watching the Red Roses last Sunday from New Zealand there was a Teighnmouth RFC flag flying proudly in the main stand.

Really? I'm not aware of anyone from the club going out there, and I'm pretty sure that Pete doesn't have a TRFC flag. I'll have to ask around.

It wasn't the Tinny flag as I have just googled it. It was a variation of the Devon flag but was not green quartered but more lilac or mauve. Teignmouth RFC was on the horizontal bar of the white cross.
Either that or the contrast on our ancient telly is on the blink.

Hope you enjoy them. They're easy to read and I love the way the author hints at plot devices before introducing them. Good choice on the first one, btw.

Hope you enjoy them. They're easy to read and I love the way the author hints at plot devices before introducing them. Good choice on the first one, btw. Just finished it last night. The ending was no big surprise really, but that's not a bad thing as anything else would have been either a real downer or too bizarre to be credible. However, the way the plot unravelled in those last few chapters, especially the story of Harold and Maureen's son, just made me think "Ah, that explains a lot!" All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed it and had to keep reading until nearly 2am to finish it last night. But of course the story isn't quite complete yet, is it? I shall begin "The Love Song of Miss Queenie Hennessy" tonight!
