Lovely news.
As both of you know I had a love-hate relationship with the teaching profession. When I was in one of my troughs there was talk of raising the retirement age for teachers from 60 to 65. I heard the news that the government had changed their mind while hiding in my stock room one lunchtime and I literally shed tears of joy.
As it turned out, I only made it to 55.

That really is fabulous news. They have so much love to give and now they'll have someone to shower it on.
I've shed a few tears over the last couple of days, but I think being poorly has heightened my emotions a touch - I read a review of a book about Sir Terry Pratchett and it made me fill up, then we put Zootropolis on the box and that did it again. It's a good job we weren't watching Paddington 2, because (even when I'm as emotionally balanced as I get) as soon as he wakes up in his bed I'm going, and, "Happy Birthday, Aunt Lucy," destroys me every time.
ps: good job I read this through, because my phone had decided I should be telling you I'd shed a few YEARS because I was PORTLY ππ

Message from Nick Meeting little Mia today was amazing and we got to go for a walk in the park, push her on a swing and read her a book. She was shy and cried a little bit but we managed to get some smiles out of her. We think she's warmed to us a little bit. Now she's home and napping and we feel like doing the same π
They get to meet her again next week for longer

Fabulous. I think Helen is about to learn that all her experience with children will be useful, but it sure ain't the same as having your own.

Nick has grown in confidence from George as a baby (13 years ago) to Jacob
I know Mia isnβt exactly a βbabyβ at 16 months but I think theyβll both be fantastic

This is the most fantastic news. I know how difficult it is to pass the adoption process.
I well understand the Maternal/Paternal needs of couples to conceive their own child, but there are so many children that need good loving homes. Chrissie went to school with Barnardo's children in Coleshill and we have all read about the abuse they suffered at the hands of the Church. My daughter also works for an adoption agency which makes me so proud.
