Blooming bitterly cold here too.
Just poked my head out the window and its freezing fog. The snow cleared down here in the valley yesterday but on the hills surrounding the village which are perhaps 100 meters higher in elevation than here were white over all day.
What we can see this morning is a sprinkling of light snow which may or may not clear.
The government bought out a law that in several departments, ours included, it is compulsory to have snow tires on the car. We have 4 Season tyres of the highest rating that have snow and extreme low temperature capability. Its cheaper than having to swap between winter and summer tyres every year.
When we came out of Albi last week there is a new sign on the road that snow tyres are compulsory at this time of year.
Saying that we have no intention of venturing out for at least 2 weeks.

Been snowing in the night here, but not hard. However, at school they had a bit of a dump (ooer) and the forecast was horrendous until lunchtime. Almost as soon as we got up Jayne sent a message to parents and staff that school would be closed until 10am, and we'd make a decision about the rest of the day ASAP. Got to school in heavy snow (I gave Jayne a lift in as it's one of my many days off) and the decision was made for us. Staff were struggling to get in and the snow was really coming down. Naturally, as soon as Jayne sent out the message that school was closed, the snow stopped and the sky went the clearest blue. She was panicking all the way home. Luckily it's now snowing heavily.

It's been cold but bright today. Some of the fields that don't catch the Sun have still got a light dusting of snow, but we went out for a coffee on Haldon anyway. It was only in the last 100 metres or so that the road surface became difficult, but that was because we stuck to the main roads avoiding narrow and steep lanes.
We could see all the way over to Hay Tor which also had retained a slight covering of snow. It's on the way to Widecombe, and the road is very steep in places, but we're hoping to make it over there tomorrow, all being well.
