MULVEY CHRISTMAS!!!
Tonight. Collect brother no 1 from the airport. Drive to Southam. Greasy fish and chips for tea followed by 'games night' with the rest of the Mulvey clan Tomorrow. Breakfast in a greasy spoon. Lunchtime walk (although hip is playing up at the mo so I may pass on that activity). Afternoon back at brother no 2's house to open presents. Dinner at the Crown in Stockton and then dancing the night away at the Nelson club Sunday. Breakfast at a greasy spoon. Tidy the houses (we have got a 3 bed apartment and a 2 bed house) so I don't get a big fine (are you listening MULV!!). Our weekend will, unsurprisingly given that we had a day out last week, be somewhat less exciting than the Mulveys'. Today: We're off to Widecombe for the first time this year this morning. Food prep this afternoon (after a nap!) for tonight and tomorrow. We're celebrating Burns Night two days late tonight - haggis, mash (made from celeriac and spuds to cut down on the carbs), swede and onion and whisky gravy, followed by this week's guilty treat, cranachan. Tomorrow: Off to Chard for egg-chasing. Slow cooker lamb bourguignon followed by cheeseboard. Sunday: Reports, roast chicken, Sounds of the 70s, Happy Valley.

We have spent the best part of a week not exactly snowed in but the roads in and out of the village have been lethal. I slithered up to Martrin on Wednesday to charge the battery in the car which had not run for two weeks and put two boxes of bottles in the bottle bank while I was there. Thankfully the farmers had cleared the roads but it was nasty. There are some great pictures of the snow on the Village de Coupiac Facebook page. Friday... I had all but run out of timber for the stud walls I am building but I am not going the 50km to St Affrique in this weather. Managed to make a bit of progress with the offcuts I had left over but it was too cold to make much progress. Aubergine, bacon and tomato with twirly pasta for tea. Saturday... I still have a few offcuts of timber to put some noggins in the stud wall, but its so cold I am still in bed at 10.30am. I was hoping to do some plasterboarding too but its too cold for the adhesive. I shall probably watch the Blues this afternoon on the internet. watch.cricstream.me/australia-vs-west-indies-live/stream-1This is a great site. Click "Soccer" and "World Football" Butternut Squash Curry for tea with sticky rice. We still have 11 huge butternut squashes in storage that we grew in the summer. Its a sort of Thai curry and a new one for us. If its nice I will post it on the site. It could be right up Will's street. Sunday... I might tidy the cellar, or I might stay in bed. I have to get up at some time and dig some carrots and Jerusalem Artichokes from the garden. If I can get the fork in. Pork Casserole for tea. With hopefully Carrots, Jerusalem Artichokes, Potato's, Leeks, Celery and Lentils. And Cobblers. I love Cobblers with cheese and Paprika in them. Have a great weekend everybody.
