... were ending another club's lengthy losing sequence for the second time this week, Teignmouth RFC were extending Newton Abbot's run of defeats to ten matches with a 34-14 win in the River Teign Derby. This win also ensured that we'll still be in Level 6 next season, and as we were founded on 1st January 1874 it means we'll still be in our highest ever level in the League Pyramid when our 150th Anniversary year begins. It also means that Newton Abbot will be desperately hoping that we beat North Petherton and Sherborne to give them a chance of avoiding relegation, because I'm afraid that in their last two matches against St Austell and Sidmouth they're going to extend their run of defeats to 12! I hope you'll all have noticed that, in this post about local rivalries, my rugby team was founded in 1874. Just like ...

You sound almost gleeful that your local rivals are struggling. Not very zen, Will.
Well done 😁

You sound almost gleeful that your local rivals are struggling. Not very zen, Will. Well done 😁 Actually it's one of the friendliest rivalries you could imagine - there are so many players who have played for both clubs, and the current head coach at Newton was our head coach for five years, and our head coach was a player and assistant coach for them for some years too. The supporters are always desperate to win this one, especially our supporters because we've usually been at least one league below them over the past 30 years.
