Sort of over now. They're in school tomorrow but only to draft write the report. It has been a nightmare. I've been inspected loads of times, as a teacher, lead teacher (school was too small for a deputy), head and supply teacher, but this was easily the worst one yet.
It's sort of our own fault. Because we are (toot tootly toot, blowing our own trumpet) a very good school they had to really drill down hard to find something to recommend as improvements. And boy did they drill!
Even then in the end they only managed to find two things to improve, and one of those was already on the School Improvement Plan anyway.
In short, the draft report they've given Jayne tonight is bloody marvellous. So we're sitting in the garden drinking prosecco before tea. This could get messy.
But I still think it's a crap way to improve schools. 🤬

You can't believe how happy it makes me to read this. Justice being done, credit where credit's due and all of that. Well done to you for being such a great support to Jayne, but above all please give her our congratulations on doing such a great job for the kids at your school while still being a caring and supportive colleague to the staff.
There was only one occasion when my school was awarded "outstanding", and despite being delighted about that, we were all cynical enough (with good reason) to realise there were political reasons behind the award. At least after such a thorough inspection you know damned well that your "bloody marvellous" report is thoroughly deserved!

It's not just that, it's the whole way the inspection is carried out. Jayne had to meet with them after school every night, and on Tuesday the lead inspector asked his team for their thoughts so far. He asked if they thought we should be in special measures (bottom category) and they all agreed we shouldn't be. Then he asked if they thought we should be in need of significant improvement (second bottom) and they all said no except one absolute cow who Jayne had had a run-in with earlier, who said, "We don't have enough evidence yet," just to put the wind up Jayne. I don't think the lead was very happy with her because he immediately said it would NOT be INOSI. What an awful woman though. 🤬

Sounds like an absolute nightmare! So glad you both (especially Jayne) came out of it relatively unscathed!). Well nothing a few glasses (bottles!) of Prosecco can’t cure
