Wednesday - work, arrive home & complete packing, 12 midnight, leave for Gatwick
Thursday - fly out to Corfu at 5.55am, spend 5 days there & fly home ☀️🍻 🏊♂️ 🏖️

Last blowout this summer
Wednesday - got a phone call with a nurse from the place that are doing my cataract surgery in a couple of weeks, then finish packing and load the car
Thursday - off to Crickhowell in the Bannau Brecheiniog nice and early for Green Man Festival. Get the tent up and stroll around in my horrible suit. 60+ Welsh ales to try so I'd better get stuck in. Beatles Dub Club and Spiritualised are today's highlights
Friday - busy one today - Pete Brown does a great show where he matches beers to music. Free beer and a selection of music - what's not to love? Sathnam Sanghera (author of Empireland), Beth Orton, Delgados, The Comet Is Coming, Slowdive and the last few minutes of Devo when hopefully they'll play both their hits
Saturday -The Wedding Present, GOAT and Confidence Man plus Dylan Moran in conversation. A bit thin today, so no doubt we'll spend a fair bit of time in Chai Wallahs where there's usually something good going on
Sunday - two clashes today. Early on Billy Nomates is playing while Stuart Maconie is in conversation - I'm torn. Probably get the tent down and the car packed before watching Say She She, then the second (and worse) clash - First Aid Kit on the main stage with Young Fathers on the second stage. I really want to see both. After that there'll be the burning of the Green Man (a huge wooden statue) and fireworks, then back to the car and get home about 3:30am

It seems silly posting about heating when its in the high 30's down here and the Mighty Mousse has been dry for a few weeks.
Last year we could not get any firewood for the winter from anywhere. Jean-Marc our usual supplier let us down twice. Luckily we had 8 steres in the cellar from the previous year and we just about got by with that and the oil fired Central Heating. Jean-Marc finally contacted us and wanted to deliver it when Pete was here so we had to put him off, and has been uncontactable since. I have tried to get wood delivered in vain. Two companies had wood but refused to deliver to Coupiac. Then out of the blue Jean-Marc dumped a huge pile of wood on the road outside the house last Wednesday morning blocking the traffic, well, the odd car that tries to get through. It took 6 hours to stack it and sweep up afterwards. Then last night Jean-Marc emailed to say he is going to dump another pile on the road at 8.00 am this morning.
So.
Friday...
Stacking wood and clearing up the mess. We were going to have Spaghetti Meatballs for tea but now it looks like it will be a sandwich and galleons of beer.
Saturday...
A long lie in to get over the effort of moving and stacking the wood in the cellar in blistering heat. Watch the Ladies 3/4th place game.
A trip to the dump in the afternoon.
A volcanically hot Chicken Curry and Fried Basmati for tea. The first for several weeks. I am looking forward to that.
Sunday...
Watch the Lionesses. I have watched every match in the Ladies World Cup. I have been somewhat incapacitated for a few weeks with a gammy knee and neck. Well that's my excuse for lying on the settee watching football all day.
Probably have the Spaghetti Meatballs for tea that we did not have on Friday.

Tonight. Working! Yes I know! I can't believe it either but one of my sites was flooded out last night/early hours of this morning and we've been having meetings all day about it. It's now 10 to six and I've just finished. Nearly two hours overtime!! Also spent the day interviewing as well as having these meetings. Hectic isn't the word!! It's now time for a VERY large glass of something alcoholic. chicken stir fry for tea - already eaten and now I have indegestion as I was eating it in front of the laptop. Ouch! Tomorrow. 3rd place play off then, after JB has left to go to footy, I'm planning on sorting my wardrobe out. No Gkids this weekend as they're away so ideal time when I have the house to myself. Please note the word 'planning' as I could also sit on the sofa reading all day  Sunday. Allotment from 9am to 12noon so we're recording the game and watching it when we get home an hour after everyone else. I really hope they do it but they've also done bloody well to get to the final. Especially after the first couple of game. Have a good one everyone |
