I've just been reading Coupiac's Facebook page and Krys Sou (do you know her?) has been moaning about dogs being allowed to wander the village at night time keeping everyone awake with their barking. Have you been bothered by this? She says the biggest culprit is a large white Pyreneen hound - would that be the smelly creature who used to come to your back door with his equally stinky mate?

Hey Will,
There has been a few pieces on our Facebook page over the last few weeks concerning sheep being killed by dogs around the village. Krys Sou is one of Chrissies pals Christine Souyris, the wife the Mayor, Jean-Claude.
The two mutts you refer to we have named Scratch and Renfield. Scratch because he uses the wall of our house as a scratching post as he is always riddled with fleas and ticks from rolling around in the long grass. Renfield is the Pyrennean who chases wasps and flies around our back yard knocking all the chairs and pots about. She is named after the character in Dracula who eats flies in the asylum. Both Scratch and Renfield are gentle souls and are both owned by the former Mayor, Jean-Marie Sirgue who lives almost directly behind the Souyris's at the back of us.
We know they both wander about the village but never far. The sheep farms are in Brasc, Martrin and Montclar which come under the Coupiac commune. I cannot imagine either of them wandering that far. We have not seen them together now for a couple of years, and the last time we saw Renfield she was recovering from mange and was almost bald. We saw a Pyrennean in the village a couple of months ago with a very luxurious white coat where Renfield is more of a sandy colour.
We are a bit perplexed by the reports of barking at night. We are both wide awake at about 2.00am every morning and never hear anything. We have certainly never heard Scratch or Renfield bark, ever.
Christine says that she knows who the owners are and that they have been warned and unless they control their dogs there will be action, presumably by Jean-Claude, but what powers he has I don't know. At the time of writing Monsieur Abricots cockerel is having a sing-song with another on the other side of the river and has been for a couple of hours.
We suspect that someone has turfed a dog out to fend for itself due to the financial situation. There are a lot of people struggling here. If you are struggling to feed yourselves then the pup has to go.

Yeah, Christine made it quite clear in her post that a warning had been issued, and that further action would follow if it was ignored. I'd forgotten what colour Renfield was, so apologies to her for suggesting she may have been responsible for the ruckus.
