He's got an interesting(-ish) backstory. His dad was a striker at Exeter City who was extremely popular with the St James' Park crowd, but he died of cancer at some ridiculously early age and they retired his shirt number (9) as a tribute. Then Jay went on loan to Exeter and they brought the number back out of retirement for him. He then went and scored a hat-trick which sealed the family's legendary status.
But he wasn't prolific - nine goals in 36 matches - so don't expect fireworks from him.
