Sad news, as he was indeed a staple of the BBC's Saturday evening entertainment (even if his show seemed to be mostly Murray Walker and Harold Wilson), but I had no idea he was still alive 😳

He definitely made me laugh when I was a kid, and I've been bit mystified as to why he's had such a bad press in recent years.
I suppose the thing is that he was doing something no-one had done before, and that those who have followed have managed to perfect the art.
But I liked him. RIP

Great impersonator, most likely the best.
I prefer impersonator rather than impressionist...they are painters (artists).
He has been not well for some time and had been a care home for some years.
