I have really been enjoying Empire with the writer and broadcaster Anita Anand and historian William Dalrymple - one a Scot living in India and the other a third generation Indian living in Britain.
They are clearly great mates and enjoy each other's company, and both have a great depth of knowledge of their subject.
They started off with (naturally enough) the British in India, starting with the formation of the East India Company and following through to independence and partition. That took twenty 40-minute episodes, so they do go into stuff in some detail.
I'm now on the Ottoman Empire, and it's fascinating.
